When does nabidh become forbidden?
Hadith 1804
- (كان يصومُ، فَتَحَيَّنْتُ فِطْرَهُ بِنَبِيذٍ صَنعتُهُ في دُبَّاءٍ، ثم أَتَيْتُهُ به، فإذا هو يَنِشُّ، فقال: اضْرِبْ بهذا الحائطِ، فإنَّ هذا شرابُ مَنْ لا يؤمنُ بالله واليوم الآخر) .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I found out that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was fasting, so I made nabidh (a drink) in a gourd vessel and waited for the time of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) iftar. When I brought it to him, it was fermenting. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Throw it against the wall, for indeed it is the drink of those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day.”
