Hadith 1745
- " إنما أنا بشر، تدمع العين ويخشع القلب ولا نقول ما يسخط الرب، والله يا إبراهيم إنا بك لمحزونون ".
Sayyiduna Mahmud bin Labid (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The day the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Ibrahim, passed away, there was a solar eclipse. The eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were filled with tears. The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah! Even though you are the Messenger of Allah, are you also weeping? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am only a human being. Tears flow from the eyes, and the heart is full of humility and submission, but we will not say anything that would displease the Lord. O Ibrahim! By Allah! We are grieved because of your (separation)."
Hadith 1746
- " إن المؤمن بكل خير، على كل حال، إن نفسه تخرج من بين جنبيه وهو يحمد الله عز وجل ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted his daughter, who was in the throes of death. He took her in his lap and then held her to his chest, and in the meantime, she passed away. Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) began to wail and cry out. It was said to her, "Do you cry in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" She addressed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Do I not see you weeping?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "I am not weeping; this is merely a sign of mercy. A believer is in goodness in every situation; his breath is departing from his sides and he is praising Allah, the Exalted."
