Closing the eyes of the deceased and speaking good at that time
Hadith 1717
- " إذا حضرتم موتاكم فأغمضوا البصر، فإن البصر يتبع الروح وقولوا خيرا، فإن الملائكة تؤمن على ما قال أهل البيت ".
Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you are present with a dying person, close his eyes at the time of death, for the eye follows the soul, and (in such a situation) speak good and virtuous words, because the angels say 'Ameen' to whatever the family members say (whether it is a supplication or a curse)."
