Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My brother is suffering from diarrhea." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make him drink honey." He made him drink honey and came back and said, "I made him drink honey, but because of it, the diarrhea increased." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him the same instruction three times. He came back a fourth time, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: "Make him drink honey." He said, "I made him drink honey, but the illness of diarrhea only increased." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is truthful and your brother's stomach is lying (meaning your brother's stomach was not yet ready to accept the cure)." He went and made him drink honey again, (this time) he was cured.
