Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Hiyyah bin Habis Taymi narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no bad omen in the owl, the evil eye is true, and the best omen is taking a good sign (optimism)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Qais that it was said to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Omen is found in three things: the house, the horse, and the wife? He said: (If I answer in the affirmative, it would mean) I have attributed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) something which he did not say. However, I did hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The best omen is a good omen, and the evil eye is true."
