Hadith 1569
- " من استعف أعفه الله ومن استغنى أغناه الله ومن سأل الناس وله عدل خمس أواق ، فقد سأل إلحافا ".
A man from the Muzani tribe was told by his mother: “Will you not go to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so that you may ask him for something, just as other people keep asking him?” So (at her request) I went to ask for something. I saw that he was addressing the people and saying: “Whoever adopts chastity, Allah will make him chaste, and whoever seeks to be independent (of people), Allah will make him independent. (Remember that) whoever has an uqiyyah and still asks (from people), his asking will be considered insistence.” I said to myself: Our she-camel is better than five uqiyyahs, and my slave also has a she-camel which is better than five uqiyyahs. On this basis, I returned and did not ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for anything.
