Hadith 1552
- " ما أحرز الولد أو الوالد فهو لعصبته من كان ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him): Ri'ab bin Hudhaifah married a woman, and she bore him three children. When their mother died, they inherited her property and the guardianship of her freed slaves. Amr bin al-As was the 'asaba (agnatic relative) of her sons; he sent these children towards Syria, where they died. When Amr bin al-As returned, the (freed) slave of this woman died, leaving behind some wealth. The brothers of this woman came to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) with a dispute. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whatever a child or a father accumulates will go to his 'asaba, whoever they may be."
