Silsilah Sahihah

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when Sayyiduna Hafs bin Mughira (may Allah be pleased with him) divorced his wife Fatimah, she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and explained the whole matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her husband: "Send her off with some wealth or something (as a gift)." He said: "I do not have anything to give her." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is necessary to benefit her with something (by giving her some wealth)." Then he said: "So send her off with some wealth, even if it is half a sa’ of dates."
