Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: We asked Sayyidah Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her): Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? She said: Yes, may my father be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Whenever she narrated a hadith, she used to say: May my father be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “Bring out the young women and the women who observe seclusion (in their houses), so that they may attend the Eid and join the supplications of the Muslims, and the menstruating women should keep away from the place of prayer of the Muslims.”

It is narrated from the sister of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It is obligatory for every woman who ties a waistband, that is, who is of age, to go out (for the two Eids).”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to command his daughters and wives to go out for the two Eids.
