Hadith 1526
It is narrated from Ali bin Hussain that Muswar bin Makhramah states: When the people returned to Madinah Munawwarah from Yazid bin Muawiyah after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Hussain bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), I met Ali bin Hussain and said: Do you need anything from me? (If so,) command me. He said: No. I said: Will you give me the sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because I fear that people might snatch it from you, and by Allah! If you give it to me, no one will be able to reach it until they kill me. Ali bin Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a marriage proposal to the daughter of Abu Jahl while Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was still alive. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressing the people on this matter, and at that time I was mature. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Fatimah is a part of my body, and I fear that she may be subjected to a trial concerning her religion.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned his son-in-law, who was from the tribe of Banu Abd Shams, and praised his son-in-law greatly, saying: “He fulfilled what he said to me and honored the covenant he made. And (remember that) I do not make the lawful unlawful, nor the unlawful lawful, but (this much is certain) the daughter of a Prophet and the daughter of the enemy of Allah can never be united in one place or in the house of one husband.”
