Hadith 1512
- (إنّ الشهر يكون تسعةً وعشرينَ يوماً) .
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took an oath of *ila* (i.e., to not go near them) from his wives for one month. When twenty-nine days had passed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his wives either in the morning or in the evening. He was asked, "Did you not take an oath that you would not enter (upon them) for a month?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Indeed, a month can also be of twenty-nine days." This hadith is *mutawatir*, narrated by a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
