Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that on the day of the Battle of Hunayn, we gained control over some captives. We wanted to sell them later. Therefore, we asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about ‘azl (coitus interruptus) (so that the captive women would not become pregnant). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Continue to practice ‘azl as long as you deem appropriate; (in any case) whatever Allah has decreed will surely happen. Not every drop of fluid (semen) results in a child.”
