Basis of compatibility between bride and groom
Hadith 1442
- " تخيروا لنطفكم، فانكحوا الأكفاء وأنكحوا إليهم ".
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Choose (good) women for your offspring, marry women who are compatible, and give (your daughters, etc.) in marriage to compatible men."
Hadith 1443
- " تنكح المرأة على إحدى خصال ثلاثة، تنكح المرأة على مالها، وتنكح المرأة على جمالها، وتنكح المرأة على دينها، فخذ ذات الدين والخلق تربت يمينك ".
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A woman is married for three qualities: ① She is married for her wealth, ② or she is married for her beauty, ③ or she is married for her religion. May your right hand be dust-covered, choose the woman who possesses religion and good character."
