No room for criticism after Prophet’s selection
Hadith 1360
- (إن تَطعنوا في إمارتِه - يريدُ أسامةَ بنَ زيدٍ-؛ فقدْ طعنتُم في إمارةِ أبيه من قبْلِه، وايْمُ اللهِ! إنّ كان لَخليقاً لها، وايم اللهِ! إنْ كان لأحبَّ الناسِ إليَّ، وايمُ اللهِ! إنّ هذا لَخليقاً لها- يريد أسامةَ بن زيدٍ- وايْمُ اللهِ! إنْ كان لأحبَّهم إليَّ من بعدِه؛ فأُوصِيكم به؛ فإنه من صَالحيكم) .
Salim bin Abdullah narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said from the pulpit: "If you criticize his (Usamah bin Zaid's) leadership, then it would mean that you had also criticized his father's leadership before this. By Allah! He (Zaid) was born for this (position). By Allah! He is the most beloved of people to me. By Allah! This (Usamah) was born for this (leadership). By Allah! After Zaid, he is the most beloved of people to me. I advise you regarding him; indeed, he is among your righteous people."
