Hadith 1309
- " من أمركم من الولاة بمعصية فلا تطيعوه ".
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Sayyiduna Alqamah bin Mujazziz (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of an army (in which I was also present) and sent him. When he reached the place of Ghazdah or was on the way, a part of the army sought permission from him, and he granted it, appointing Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hudhafah bin Qais Sahmi (may Allah be pleased with him) as their commander. I was also among those who went on the expedition with them. While on the way, he lit a fire either to warm himself or to cook something. The commander of the army, Abdullah, who had a humorous nature, said: "Is it not necessary for you to listen to and obey my command?" They replied: "Why not?" He said: "Will you carry out whatever I command you?" They said: "Yes." He said: "I strictly command you to jump into this fire." The people tied belts around their waists. When he thought that they were about to jump into the fire, he said: "Wait, I was only joking with you." When we came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we narrated the whole incident to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not obey those commanders who order you to disobey (Allah the Exalted)."
