Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Abdur Rahman bin Abdullah narrates from his father, he said: We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he went away to relieve himself. We saw a red bird (like a sparrow), and it had two chicks with it. We took those chicks. So the bird began to circle around them. Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and asked: “Who has caused distress to this bird because of its chicks? Return its chicks to it.” And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw an ant colony which we had burned, so he asked: “Who has burned this colony?” We replied: We did. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Only the Lord of the Fire deserves to punish with fire.”
