Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a slave-girl commits adultery, flog her; if she commits adultery again, flog her; if she commits adultery again, flog her; and if she commits adultery again, flog her and sell her, even if you have to sell her for a twisted rope."

Abu Abdur Rahman says that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon and said: O people! Carry out the prescribed punishments on your slaves, whether they are married or unmarried, because a slave woman of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) committed adultery and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to flog her, but she had just finished her postnatal bleeding. I feared that if I flogged her, she would die. When I mentioned this concern to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "You did well, leave her until she becomes healthy."

Abu Abdur Rahman says that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon and said: O people! If a male or female slave commits adultery, establish the prescribed punishment on them... Then he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a female slave, who gave birth to a child due to adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to flog her. I saw that she had just finished her postnatal bleeding. I feared that if I flogged her, I might kill her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You did well; leave her until she recovers."
