Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Iblis sends out his armies in the morning and says: 'Whoever leads a Muslim astray, I will crown him.' (When the armies return,) one of them says: 'I kept tempting him until he divorced his wife.' Iblis says: 'Perhaps he will marry again.' Another comes and says: 'I kept luring him until he disobeyed his parents.' He says: '(This is not a big deal because) perhaps he will later treat them well.' Another comes and says: 'I stuck with him until he committed shirk (associating partners with Allah).' Iblis says: 'You have excelled.' (Meanwhile) another comes and says: 'I did not leave so-and-so until he committed murder.' Iblis says: '(Well done) you have done the utmost,' and then he crowns him."
