Is the killer of a believer’s repentance accepted?
Hadith 1185
- " لما نزلت هذه الآية التي في * (الفرقان) *: * (والذين لا يدعون مع الله إلها آخر ولا يقتلون النفس التي حرم الله إلا بالحق) * عجبنا للينها، فلبثنا ستة أشهر، ثم نزلت التي في * (النساء) *: * (ومن يقتل مؤمنا متعمدا فجزاؤه جهنم خالدا فيها وغضب الله عليه ولعنه) * حتى فرغ ".
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit says: When this verse was revealed: "Those who do not call upon any other deity along with Allah, nor do they kill a soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right." (__QUR_N__: Surah Furqan: 68), we were greatly astonished at the flexibility and leniency given in this verse. Six months passed, then this verse was revealed: "Whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell to abide therein forever, and Allah is angry with him and has cursed him... till the end." (__QUR_N__: Surah Nisa: 93)
Hadith 1186
- " أبى الله أن يجعل لقاتل المؤمن توبة ".
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Exalted, has refused to accept the repentance of the killer of a believer."
