Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: A man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Guide me to such an action that if I adopt it, Allah will love me and people will also love me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Renounce the world and Allah will love you, and renounce what is with people and people will love you.”
