Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My mother has passed away and has left some jewelry without making a will. If I give charity on her behalf, will it benefit her? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep your wealth with yourself."
