Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Indeed, I love you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then prepare yourself for poverty."

Sa'id bin Abu Sa'id al-Khudri narrates from his father, who says that he complained of his poverty to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Abu Sa'id! Be patient, for indeed, poverty rushes towards the one who loves me with greater speed than a flood flows from the height of a valley or from the peak of a mountain towards its lowland."
