Hadith 913
- (أرى أن تجعلَها في الأقرَبِينَ) .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was the wealthiest among the Ansar of Madinah in terms of date orchards, and the most beloved of his wealth to him was the garden named Bairuha. It was situated directly opposite the Prophet’s Mosque. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go there and drink the pleasant water present in the garden. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when this verse was revealed: “You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love” (__QUR_N__: Surah Aal-e-Imran: 92), Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Allah Almighty has revealed this verse upon you: “You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love,” and the most beloved of my wealth to me is Bairuha (the garden). I give it in charity for Allah. I hope for its reward and for it to be stored with Allah. So, spend it wherever you see fit, O Messenger of Allah, according to the understanding Allah has granted you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Wonderful, wonderful! This is profitable wealth, this is profitable indeed! I have heard what you have said. My opinion is that you distribute it among your relatives.”
Hadith 914
- " لا تطعموهم مما لا تأكلون. يعني المساكين ".
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was presented with a lizard as a gift, but he did not eat it. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we give it to the poor to eat? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not feed others what you do not eat yourselves."
