Virtue of voluntary fasting
Hadith 903
- " من صام يوما في سبيل الله باعد الله منه جهنم مسيرة مائة عام ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts for one day in the way of Allah, Allah Almighty will keep Hellfire away from him at a distance of one hundred years’ journey."
Hadith 904
- " من صام يوما في سبيل الله جعل الله بينه وبين النار خندقا كما بين السماء والأرض ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts for one day in the way of Allah, Allah Almighty will place a trench between him and the Fire, the distance between its two edges will be as much as the distance between the earth and the sky."
