Hadith 806
- (والذي نفسي بيدِه! لوتتابعتُم حتَّى لا يبقى منكم أحدٌ؛ لسال بكُمُ الوادي ناراً) .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the Friday sermon when a (trading) caravan arrived in Madinah. The Companions of the Messenger rushed towards it, and only twelve men remained (in the mosque). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), seeing this situation, said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If all of you had gone and no one had remained, a fire would have flowed through this valley that would have swept you away." Then these verses were revealed: "When they see some merchandise or amusement, they rush towards it and leave you standing." (Surah Al-Jumu'ah: 11) The narrator says: Among the twelve men who remained seated with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).
