Hadith 494
It is narrated from Matlub bin Abdullah bin Hantab that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit and said: "I swear, I swear, I swear." Then he descended from the pulpit and said: "Rejoice, rejoice! Whoever performs the five prayers and avoids major sins, he will enter Paradise through whichever door he wishes." Matlub said: A man asked Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him): Did you yourself hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mention these words? He said: Yes. (The major sins are:) Disobedience to parents, associating partners with Allah, killing someone (without just cause), slandering chaste women, consuming the wealth of orphans, fleeing from the battlefield, and consuming usury."
Hadith 495
Abu Idris Khawlani says: I was sitting in a gathering of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and among them was Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him). They began to discuss the ruling of the Witr prayer; some said that the Witr prayer is obligatory, while others considered it Sunnah. Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) presented his opinion and said: I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Jibreel came to me from Allah the Exalted and said: O Muhammad! Allah the Exalted has said to you: I have made five prayers obligatory upon your Ummah. Whoever performs them properly, with ablution, at their times, and with their prostrations (and other requirements), I have a covenant with him that I will admit him to Paradise. And whoever meets Me having neglected them, there is no covenant for him with Me; if I wish, I will punish him, and if I wish, I will have mercy on him."
Hadith 496
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying in the sermon of the Farewell Pilgrimage: "Fear your Lord, perform the five prayers, fast in the month (of Ramadan), pay the zakat of your wealth, and obey your leaders, you will enter the Paradise of your Lord."
