Prayer is the criterion for acceptance of other deeds
Hadith 474
- " أول ما يحاسب به العبد الصلاة، وأول ما يقضى بين الناس في الدماء ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the first thing among the rights of Allah for which people will be called to account will be the prayer, and among the rights of the servants, the first matter to be decided will be concerning blood (i.e., murder)."
Hadith 475
- " أول ما يحاسب به العبد يوم القيامة الصلاة، فإن صلحت صلح له سائر عمله وإن فسدت فسد سائر عمله ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the first thing for which a servant will be called to account is the prayer. If it is correct, then the rest of his deeds will also be correct, and if there is deficiency in it, then the rest of his deeds will also be deficient."
