Hadith 471
- " أبايعك على أن تعبد الله وتقيم الصلاة وتؤتي الزكاة وتناصح المسلمين وتفارق المشرك ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was taking the pledge (bay'ah). I said: O Messenger of Allah! Extend your hand so that I may also pledge allegiance to you, and set a condition upon me, for you know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I take your pledge that you will worship Allah Almighty, establish prayer, pay zakat, show compassion to the Muslims, and keep away from the polytheists."

Hadith 472
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were seven, eight, or nine men present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not give the pledge of allegiance (bay'ah) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" We said: We have only recently given you our pledge of allegiance. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not give the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" We said: O Messenger of Allah! We have already given you our pledge of allegiance. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (for the third time) said: "Will you not give the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" So we stretched out our hands for the pledge and said: O Messenger of Allah! We have already given you our pledge of allegiance, so (please clarify) now upon what should we pledge? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you will worship Allah alone, associate nothing with Him, perform the five prayers, and obey Allah the Exalted." And he said one thing in a low voice: "You will not ask people for anything." I saw that if even the whip of some of those (who pledged allegiance) fell to the ground, they would not ask anyone to pick it up and hand it to them (rather, they would pick it up themselves).
