Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: O Messenger of Allah! I tightly braid my hair, so should I undo it for the ritual bath of janabah? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over your head, then pour water over the rest of your body; in this way, you will become pure."
