Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates from Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), I performed ghusl (ritual bath) in a tub, and some water remained. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came, he performed ghusl with that water. I said: I had also performed ghusl with this water. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The state of janabah is not imposed upon the water due to the ghusl of a person in a state of janabah."
