Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Mahmood bin Tahlah says: I said to Abu Salamah: Indeed, your stepfather Salim does not perform ablution after eating food cooked on fire. He struck Salim on the chest and said: I bear witness for the wife of the Messenger, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she bears witness for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution after eating food cooked on fire.

Sayyiduna Muawiyah’s servant Qasim narrates: I entered the mosque of Damascus and saw that some people were gathered and an elder was narrating hadiths to them. I asked: Who is this elder? They said: This is Sahl bin Hanzalah. Then I heard him saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever eats meat, let him perform ablution.”
