Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), she says that a woman asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: If menstrual blood gets on any of our clothes, what should she do to purify it? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When menstrual blood gets on any of your clothes, she should rub it (with water), then pour water over it and wash it." And in another narration: "Rub it with water, then pour water over the remaining part and wash it, then pray in it."

Sayyidah Umm Qais bint Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about menstrual blood that gets on a garment. He (peace be upon him) said: "Scrape it off with a stick (or something similar), then wash it with water and lotus leaves."
