Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was performing ablution. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Sa’d! What is this extravagance?” Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Is there extravagance even in ablution?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes, even if you are at a flowing river.”
