Hadith 375
- " إنكم لن تنالوا هذا الأمر بالمغالبة ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Adra’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: One night I was standing guard for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out for some need, and when he saw me, he took hold of my hand. So we set off and passed by a man who was reciting (the Qur’an) aloud in prayer. Upon seeing him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “It is near that this one becomes a show-off.” I said: O Messenger of Allah! He is reciting the Qur’an in a loud voice (what harm is there in that?). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) let go of my hand and said: “You cannot attain this religion with forcefulness.” He says: Then, on another night, it happened that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out for some need, while I was again standing guard. (In the same way) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my hand (and we set off) and passed by a man who was reciting the Qur’an aloud in prayer. This time I said: It is near that this person becomes a show-off. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (rejecting my statement) said: “Never! Rather, he is one who repents much.” When I looked, it was Abdullah Dhu al-Nijadayn.
