Hadith 301
- (أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأنِّي رسول الله، لا يأتي بهما عبدٌ مُحِقٌ إلاّ وقاه الله حرّ النّار) .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military expedition. We said: O Messenger of Allah! The enemy has arrived well-fed and we are hungry (what will happen)? The Ansar said: Should we not slaughter some camels and feed the people? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has extra food, let him bring it. Some brought a mudd, some a sa’, some brought more, and some brought less. In total, twenty-four sa’ were collected from the whole army. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sat by this pile, supplicated for blessing, then said: “Begin taking, but do not snatch.” The people filled their own bags, sacks, and vessels, until some even tied up their sleeves and filled them, and the grain remained as it was. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I bear witness that Allah alone is worthy of worship and I am the Messenger of Allah. Whoever brings these two (testimonies) with truth, Allah Almighty will save him from the heat of Hell.”
