Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man with a brass ring on his arm and asked: "What is this?" He said: "It is because of weakness." He said: "If you die while wearing this ring, you will be entrusted to it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes an evil omen or an evil omen is taken for him, or whoever practices soothsaying or soothsaying is practiced for him, or whoever practices magic or magic is practiced for him, he is not from among us."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever practices magic himself or magic is practiced for him, or whoever practices soothsaying or soothsaying is practiced for him, or whoever takes omens or omens are taken for him, he is not from among us."
