Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whatever brings you closer to Paradise, I have commanded you to do it, and whatever brings you closer to Hell, I have forbidden you from it. The Holy Spirit (i.e., Jibreel, peace be upon him) has inspired in my heart: No soul will die until it has completed its provision. So fear Allah and seek (your provision) with moderation. Do not let the delay in provision lead you to seek it through disobedience to Allah (remember!) Whatever is with Allah can only be attained through His obedience."
