Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the evil eye can make a person insane by the command of Allah Almighty, to the extent that (sometimes it happens that) he climbs to a high place and then falls from there."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no contagious disease, nor is there any reality in bad omens, and the evil eye is true."

Ubayd bin Rifaqi Sarqi reports: Sayyidah Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja'far are very quickly affected by the evil eye. Should I perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, for if anything could precede destiny, it would be the evil eye."
