Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), there was a drought. We requested him to pray for rain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for rain (and rain did descend). When morning came, he (peace and blessings be upon him) heard some people saying: "Rain has come because of such-and-such star." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever Allah bestows a favor upon His servants, they become disbelievers because of it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever acquires knowledge of astrology has learned a part of magic."

Sayyiduna Abu Malik Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Four traits of the Age of Ignorance will be found in my Ummah; they will not abandon them: (1) boasting about lineage (family greatness), (2) defaming ancestry, (3) seeking rain through the stars, and (4) wailing (lamenting the dead)."
