Hadith 86
It is narrated from Ali bin Husayn that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says: An Ansari companion told me that he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) one night when a star shot and fell, and because of it, light spread. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them: "What did you used to say about such a star in the days of ignorance?" They said: (The real situation) Allah and His Messenger know best. We used to say: Tonight a great man has been born or has died. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stars do not fall because of anyone's death or life. (In reality) when Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, makes a decision, the bearers of the Throne glorify Him, then the angels of the lower heaven begin to glorify Allah, until the angels of the lowest heaven also become engaged in glorification. Then the angels of the (seventh) heaven ask the bearers of the Throne: What did your Lord say? They reply: He said such and such. In this way, the angels of one heaven ask those of the other, and the matter continues until it reaches the lowest heaven. (When the matter of Allah's decision reaches the lowest heaven,) the jinn snatch it and try to convey it to their (satanic) allies. (To burn them) stars are thrown at them. (Sometimes they are burned and sometimes they escape.) Whatever they hear from there is true, but along with it, they fabricate many lies and add from themselves."
