Hadith 987

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man opens the door of asking (begging) from people for himself, Allah Almighty opens the door of poverty and neediness upon him. If a man takes a rope, goes to a mountain (forest), gathers firewood, brings it back, and arranges for his food through (selling) it, then this is better for him than asking people, whether they give him something or not."
