Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would go out on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr and begin with the prayer. When he finished the prayer with salam, he would stand on his feet, turn towards the people, and the people would remain seated in their places before him. If he needed to send an army or had any other need, he would mention it to the people and command them to fulfill it. He would also say: "Give charity, give charity, give charity." Most of those who gave charity were women. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would depart.
