Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice: "Avoid continuous fasting (wisal)." It was asked: "Do you yourself observe wisal?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "(My condition is such that) I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink. So you should only take on deeds according to your ability."
