Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah

Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “After sixty years, incompetent people will emerge, (the command of Allah, the Exalted, is:) ‘They neglected the prayer and followed their desires, so they will soon meet destruction.’ (Surah Maryam: 59) Then such incompetent people will come who will recite the Noble Qur’an, but that recitation will not go below their throats (i.e., it will have no effect on them). Three types of people recite the Noble Qur’an: the believer, the hypocrite, and the sinner.”
