Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would go out on the days of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr and (in the Eidgah) would begin with the prayer. When he had performed the prayer and completed the salam, he would stand and turn towards the people, and the people would remain seated in their places. If there was a need to send a delegation, he would mention it before the people. Besides this, whatever need there was, he would present it before the people and say: "Give charity, give charity, give charity." Most of those who gave charity were women, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would return (to his home).
