- " إذا حلف أحدكم فلا يقل: ما شاء الله وشئت، ولكن ليقل ما شاء الله ثم شئت ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person swears an oath, he should not say: «ما شاء الله وشئت» (Whatever Allah and you will), rather he should say: «ما شاء الله ثم وشئت» 'Whatever Allah wills and then you will.'"

Benefits:
The universe is comprised of a vast and extensive system of order and management; its expanse is beyond human intellects. In the entire administration and regulation of this universe, the will and desire of Allah Ta’ala is operative. Whether it is a matter of prosperity or adversity, the granting of sustenance or the constriction of sustenance, victory or defeat, success or failure, life or death, passing away in childhood or living until middle age, beauty or ugliness, the rising of the sun or a solar eclipse, Paradise or Hell—indeed, in carrying out all the affairs of the universe, the command of this One Allah prevails, and only His will is heeded. If even the will of the leader of the first and the last, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), is subject to the desire of Allah Ta’ala, then who else is there—no one at all—who can impose his own will in the presence of His desire?
We should correct our expressions, and when mentioning anyone’s favors, we must not neglect the great Being of Allah Ta’ala, the Supreme Benefactor.
