Hadith 531

- " إذا أتيت الصلاة فائتها بوقار وسكينة، فصل ما أدركت واقض ما فاتك ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When you come for prayer, come with dignity and calmness. Whatever part of the prayer you catch (with the Imam), perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it afterwards.”

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
When a person is going to the mosque to perform prayer, he should proceed with calmness, tranquility, and dignity; he should not be hasty or rush. In the hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, the reason for this is mentioned:
«فإن احدكم إذا كان يعمد إلى الصلاة فهو فى صلاة» [مسلم]
“When a person intends towards prayer, he is considered to be in the state of prayer.”
