Hadith 4064

Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the chiefs of the Quraysh passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and with him were Suhaib, Bilal, Ammar, Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with them), and some other weak Muslims. The chiefs of the Quraysh said: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Drive these people away. Are you content with them from among your people? Shall we be followers of these people? Has Allah favored them over us? If you drive them away, perhaps we would come to you. Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: "(O Muhammad!) Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening seeking His pleasure. You are not accountable for them in anything, nor are they accountable for you in anything. If you drive them away, you will be among the wrongdoers."
