- (أقيمُوا اليهوديَّ عن أخيكُم. يعني: ابن اليهوديِّ الذي أسلمَ) .
Abu Sahar Aqili says: A Bedouin narrated to me: I brought some trade goods to Madinah during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). After finishing my business, I said: I will definitely go to this man (i.e., Muhammad ﷺ) and listen to what he has to say. When I met the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) were also with him. He sent them back, and we went to a Jew who was reading the Torah, comforting himself with it, because his extremely handsome and beautiful young son was struggling between life and death. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: "I adjure you by the One Who sent down the Torah! Do you find mention of my attributes and my place of appearance in your Book?" He shook his head to indicate "No." But his son said: Yes, by the One Who sent down the Torah! We do find mention of your attributes and your place of appearance in our Book, and I now bear witness that Allah alone is the true deity and you are the Messenger of Allah. (Upon hearing this) the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Remove this Jew from his brother." He meant the son of the Jew, who had accepted Islam. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) arranged for his shroud, applied perfume to him, and offered his funeral prayer.
