Silsilah Sahihah

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The night I was taken on the Mi'raj (Ascension), and in the morning I was in Makkah, I was anxious, because I knew that people would belie me." So, you sat aside, worried. Meanwhile, the enemy of Allah, Abu Jahl, passed by there. He came and sat next to you (peace and blessings be upon him) and, mocking, said: "Has something happened?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: "What happened?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tonight, I was taken on a journey." Abu Jahl said: "To where?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To Bayt al-Maqdis." Abu Jahl said: "Then you reached us here in the morning as well?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." Abu Jahl did not belie you at that moment, lest when he gathered the people and you (peace and blessings be upon him) denied it, so Abu Jahl said: "If I call your people, will you tell them this?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." Abu Jahl called out: "O Banu Ka'b bin Lu'ayy, come!" (As soon as they heard this call,) people arrived and sat down with them. Abu Jahl said to you (peace and blessings be upon him): "Tell them what you told me." You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was taken on a journey tonight." The people asked: "Where to?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To Bayt al-Maqdis." The people said: "Then you returned here (to Makkah) in the morning as well?" You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." Hearing this, some started clapping and others, astonished at this claim, put their hands on their heads. Since some people had traveled to that city and seen the (Aqsa) Mosque, they said: "Can you describe for us the characteristics of Masjid al-Aqsa?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I began to describe its features, I kept explaining, but some signs became confused for me, so Masjid al-Aqsa was brought and placed in front of the house of Iqal or Aqil, and I began to describe its features while looking at it, yet there were still some signs I could not remember." The people said: "As for the signs, by Allah, he has described them correctly."
